AIS Development Planning

In early 2005, a review of the IBM - University Administrative Information Systems (AIS) development process was necessitated by:

  • the acquisition of TkMC by IBM Global Services in October 2004,
  • the release of the University of Alberta's Administrative Information Systems Contract Review Report in December 2004,
  • the hiring of new staff in AIS, and
  • the formation of new reporting lines for AIS.

A series of planning sessions were held to review:

  • the roles and responsibilities for development projects,
  • the expectations for development projects,
  • the methodology applied,
  • project steward roles, and
  • project management including improvement opportunities and IBM standards.
